Wednesday Formation |
|
|
Since reception of the Sacrament of Confirmation is not even remotely similar to graduation, but rather an acceptance and commitment by the person to enter fully into the life and mission of the Catholic Church, the High School Wednesday Formation aims to continue the instruction of the person in the faith, and help them to actively live out the faith they have embraced. You cannot give what you have not first received, and reception of the Sacrament of Confirmation does not by any stretch of the imagination imply that the person is fully prepared and able to defend the faith, explain the teachings of the Church, and lead others to the Church. Therefore, the formation we will be providing will attempt to give the youth the opportunity to grow in their understanding of the Scriptures, the teachings of the Church, and to cultivate a deeper and more vibrant relationship with Christ Jesus and the members of the Church. Our formation track for high school youth (and Confirmed 8th graders) meets Wednesdays from September through June, from 7-8:30 p.m. Locations TBA. St. Veronica Youth Ministry strives to help the parish become a "Church for young people, which will know how to speak to their heart and enkindle, comfort, and inspire enthusiasm in it with the joy of the Gospel and the strength of the Eucharist; a Church which will know how to invite and to welcome the person who seeks a purpose for which to commit his whole existence; a Church which is not afraid to require much, after having given much; which does not fear asking from young people the effort of a noble and authentic adventure, such as that of the following of the Gospel"
