Little Flowers Girls’ Club

What is the Little Flowers Girls’ Club?

It is a mother/daughter club that provides young catholic girls, age 5 and up, the opportunity to learn about the virtues and our catholic heritage, faith and traditions. There is already a part of you that has said yes to God.  Little Flowers nurtures and supports that part in our daughters’ early years.

Why should my daughter learn about virtues?

We need to help our children develop spiritual and moral muscle. We can no longer hope our children pick up our values…we must actively teach them values and how to develop their inner strength and resiliency.  The Little Flowers Girls Club helps by allowing the girls to identify with the incredible beauty of our faith in addition to CCD and Sunday Mass.

Do all the moms have to be at the all the meetings?

No, we have a group of moms that have volunteered to run every meeting.

The moms that cannot help run the meetings help with other jobs that can be done from home.

The Little Flowers Girls’ Club was meant for mothers and daughters to work together.  For that reason we will provide a “Family Activity Sheet” to give the moms, or whole family, the opportunity to sit together and talk about our faith to expand and re-enforce the virtue that we are exploring.

When are the meetings?

We meet from September through June every Wednesday from 3:00 to 4:15 pm. in the St. Veronica Catholic School Art & Science Room.  Girls in St. Veronica's School will be escorted from the other side of the school to the Art Room by one of our mom volunteers.  Girls coming from other schools are dropped off by parents at the parish hall.  The girls should be picked up in the Art & Science Room promptly at 4:15 p.m.

What happens during the meetings?

Work- During the meetings the girls will learn about a virtue, the female saint that represents such virtue, how our Blessed Mother displayed the virtue or how we as Catholics live that virtue; in order to earn the badge for each virtue.

Through the year we have different activities were the girls perform some Works of Mercy: visiting the elderly at a Nursing Home, collecting items for charitable organizations, etc.

The girls help with the monthly “Cub Scouts/Little Flowers Donuts Sales”.  The donations allow us to help charities, and to fund other projects.

Pray-All our meetings begin and end with prayer. Once a month (except during lent) we visit the Blessed Sacrament and celebrate each girls’ baptismal anniversaries by renewing our baptismal promises.

Rest-Our meetings include time for snack and to socialize.

Play- In some meetings we will have games and in others we will work on crafts.  This year the girls will learn and practice cross stitch throughout the year.

Is there any cost?

There is a $20.00 annual membership fee to cover snacks, supplies and crafts.

There is also the cost of the uniform (sash and bandana) and the badges (set of10) that the girls will earn for each virtue.

St. Veronica Youth Ministry strives to help the parish become a "Church for young people, which will know how to speak to their heart and enkindle, comfort, and inspire enthusiasm in it with the joy of the Gospel and the strength of the Eucharist; a Church which will know how to invite and to welcome the person who seeks a purpose for which to commit his whole existence; a Church which is not afraid to require much, after having given much; which does not fear asking from young people the effort of a noble and authentic adventure, such as that of the following of the Gospel"
